Programme of walks and events.

Walking for the pleasure and enjoyment of the countryside.

Our walks are normally circular & start at 10.00 am. Monday walk leader is Bev 01234 768974 unless stated otherwise. Monday walks are normally about 2 hours 4-5 miles. Sunday walks are a bit longer at 5-6 miles.

Well behaved dogs, on a short lead are welcome, unless stated otherwise in the walk description.

JANUARY 2020

Sunday 5th January 10.00. Marston Moretaine. Please park considerately at Bell Public House. 2 Bedford Rd, Marston Moretaine, Bedford MK43 0ND. A gentle start for the New Year with an easy walk of about 5 miles around Stewartby lakes and the Marston Vale Country Park.  The pub will be open afterwards if anyone wants a coffee or something to eat. Monday 6th January 10.00. Priory Country Park, Barkers Lane, Bedford MK41 9RX. Meet by cafe to walk along the river and back for a New Year drink.

Sunday 12th January 10.00. A circular ramble from Harrold Odell Country Park passing Chellington Church and walking by Freer’s Wood, Monk’s Wood and Green Spinney into Odell with good views over the Ouse valley. Monday 13th January 10.00.  Great Denham, meet at the Golf Club, Carnoustie Drive MK40 4FF. Walk from club along river to Bromham bridge, back through fields to Biddenham Church and pond, through village back to golf club mostly good paths this time of year. approximately 4 miles. FEBRUARY 2020

Sunday 2nd February 10.00. A circular ramble from Harrold Odell Country Park walking through the village of Harrold and heading north-west through Park Wood to Three Shires Way. After a few miles on Three Shires Way returning to Harrold. Distance about 7 miles. Monday 3rd February 10.00. Shefford, meet in the free car park, Old Railway Way, SG17 5ED. Walk along the river from car park, through Hardwick Farm, exploring Campton Woods, lots of wood carvings and hopefully snowdrops to look out for. Sunday 9th February 10.00. – A 5 mile walk from Go Outdoors on Norse Road through the Howbury Hall Estate, out to Renhold and Wilden and back. Meet at Go Outdoors Car Park 10am. MK41 0QN. Note one stretch has 4 stiles quite close together. Leader Sue C 07788954819

Sunday 1st March—Radwell.  Meeting at 10am for a pleasant circular walk of approximately 5 miles in a variety of landscape settings including Pavenham Golf Course and the River Ouse. Monday 13th April 10.00. EASTER MONDAY Rose & Crown, 89 High Street, Ridgemont, MK43 0TY. Maybe a new walk.

Sunday 19th April 10.00 – Langford meadows and Stamford Lock, a pretty 6 mile walk following the River Ivel past lakes and onto Henlow Common and Langford Meadows, a local nature reserve. This may be muddy due to the time of the year. Meet at 10am two roads up from St Mary’s Church, Henlow if coming from the High Street. It is called Gardeners Lane and has a car park at the end. Monday 20th  April 10.00. The Flying Horse, 2 The Green, Clophill MK45 4AD. Walking towards old St. Mary’s Church, up through The Slade across rolling meadows with lovely views.
