Walking for the pleasure and enjoyment of the countryside.
Our walks are normally circular & start at 10.00 am. Monday walks are usually about 2 hours and around 4 miles. Sunday walks may be a bit longer at 5-6 miles.

Well behaved dogs, on a short lead are welcome, unless stated otherwise in the walk description.

February 2023

Sunday 5th February – Meet at 10am at Cople church at 10am for a circular walk of 5.8 miles. An easy, mainly mud free, walk using footpaths and the cycle track around Cople and Willington. There is a little road walking on a quiet country road. Drinks/coffee afterwards at the Five Bells if so desired.  Postcode: MK44 3TH.  LEADER: Due to illness leaders are now Judith and Sue. Monday 6th February –  Meet at 10am in the public car park behind Wootton Village Hall, Church Road, Wootton. A 4 mile circular walk through the village and onto paths in the Bedford Green Gateway before returning via Hall End. Mostly easy walking, flat with one stile. Ground is soft in parts. Monday 6th February – The Leisurely Strollers – Meet at 10am at the Forest Centre car park, Marston Moretaine for a 3.5 mile circular walk.  Coffee at the Forest Centre on our return.  Toilets are available in the centre.  Please note there is a £2 car parking charge for 3 hours.  Postcode: MK43 0PR. Sunday 12th February – Meet at 10am.  Park in Ridgmont High Street near to All Saints Church.  This is a varied walk, which includes part of the Woburn Abbey Deer Park and the chances of seeing more exotic animals on the fringes of the Safari Park.  The second half covers typical Bedfordshire farmscape plus the ruins of Segenhoe Church.  The walk is about 5 miles, and has one stile. Monday 13th February – Meet at at the West Car Park, Woburn Road, Ampthill (turn right off the B530 just before the junction with the A507 ).  This is a 4.5 mile walk  starting from here walking around Cooper’s hill towards the war memorial which has a really good information board for those with an interest. We make our way from here through a housing estate towards Kings arms garden for which we have access to see the lovely snowdrops, daffodils, wood anemones, then past St Andrew’s church making our way across countryside, with lovely views. There is one stile to climb with the challenge of a rather boggy puddle on the other side. A slight incline which takes us up to Houghton House more lovely views. Then we return through Ampthill park along the ridge towards the hub for refreshments & toilets or straight to the car park. Monday 13th February – The Leisurely Strollers – Meet at 10am at the Priory Park Cafe. We will walk to  town bridge and back via the embankment approximately 3 miles. The Wednesday Wobblers

Wednesday 15th February – Meet at 10.30am in the car park at Moggerhanger Park, Park Road, Moggerhanger  for a short stroll among the snowdrops and coffee.  Any ex-ramblers are welcome to join us.  Weather permitting. Postcode:  MK44 3RW

Sunday 19th February – Meet at 10am at St Lawrence Church in Church End, Steppingley.  The walk is an undulating route around and through Millbrook Warren.  The distance is about five and a half miles, and there are no stiles. Postcode:  MK45 5AU.  Leader: Michael.  Mob:  07505 731114.

Monday 20th February –  Meet at 10am at The Rose & Crown, 88, High Street, Ridgmont (permission has been given to use the car park) a 4.2 mile stroll along the High Street, through Woburn Park (probably see plenty of deer).  Down towards Eversholt. Along the road to All Saints church, Segenhoe. Some gates but no stiles. Mostly good walking conditions, however, there will be some road walking and possibly mud.  The pub is closed, but the village café will be open. Postcode: MK43 0TY, LEADER: Pat Mob: 07894 724856.

Monday 20th February – The Leisurely Strollers –  Meet at 10am by the pond at Bedford Park.  We will walk through the park, through town, along the embankment, and  back to Bedford Park approx 3 miles. Friday 24th February – Meet 11.15 for 11.30 start. 10 Pin bowling at Eat & Bowl Huntingdon Road, St Neots PE19 1XG. We are planning to have two games for a total cost of £9.00 per person. Please complete the online booking form by 6th February at the latest. For those that are interested, we will be going for lunch afterwards.  Contact Liz Noble.

Monday 27th February – Meet at 10am at Great Denham. n the public car park on Kingswood Way. On the right as you enter Great Denham from the A6 bypass. DO NOT go up to the golf club. ( No 8 bus leaves Bedford bus station 09.28 and arrives at Great Denham, Carnoustie Drive 09.47 right outside the car park. If going by bus please confirm times ) Approximately 4 miles of easy walking with a few gates but no stiles. Along the river to Bromham Bridge, back through fields to Biddenham Church then along Coffin Path to the pond, over the golf course and back to the start Postcode: MK40 4FA . LEADER: Veronica.  Mob:  07837 055664.

Monday 27th February – The Leisurely Strollers –    Meet at 10am in the free car park in EAST STREET, Olney next to the football ground. This is around a 3 mile walk to and around Emberton Park and back. Toilets available at start, middle and end. Refreshements at finish.  Postcode: Mk46 4DH. Monday 6th March – The Leisurely Strollers –  Meet at 10am at the  Polhill Arms car park, Renhold  We will walk down the tracks and back through the village for this 2.5 – 3 mile walk. Road Closures in Renhold for the next few months – will inform you at a later date which way to enter Renhold. Sunday 12th March –  Meet at 10 am in the Centre Car Park off Beauvais Square in Shortstown for a 5¼ mile walk.  A fairly flat walk with some road walking, gates but no stiles.  From the new estate in Shortstown we walk through Cardington and across fields to Cotton End returning via Shocott Springs Wood.  Postcode: MK42 0GS.
