Bedford Rambling Club based in North Bedfordshire.
We’re a small, friendly and sociable walking group who meet on Sunday and Monday mornings for 2-3 hour circular walks around Bedfordshire & the surrounding area.
Established in 1938 to “encourage a love of the open air, to provide for the healthy enjoyment of leisure, to assist in the preservation of the amenities of the countryside, and to promote social and international friendship.” Still valid today.
We have recently secured up to 15% discount for members from several leading online and high street suppliers. Please see details.
30th March to 2nd April 2020. Club walking holiday to Rye, East Sussex. Please see Social Events for further information and booking details.
Sunday Walks. We meet at 10.00 on Sunday mornings for a 5-6 mile walk, where possible sharing cars to the start. Walking is at a leisurely pace with lots of chatting going on! We bring a drink and snack with us for a half way stop but sometimes there’s somewhere to call in and have a coffee. It’s a nice way to start a Sunday especially after a busy week, we’re usually back early afternoon. See Programme
Monday walks. Again meeting at 10.00. These are generally a little less energetic walks of 4-5 miles aiming to finish around 12.00. We usually start and finish at a pub or cafe so there is the option of a drink and chat afterwards. See Programme
We also hold a variety of social events throughout the year.
The Club is affiliated to the Ramblers association and HF Holidays and we normally arrange to go away for a walking holiday to one of their country houses once a year.
We are always looking for new members and non members are welcome to join us. Just turn up on the day for a walk (no charge) or for further information please Contact us.
If you like what you see and want to join the club the annual membership is only £7.00 per individual or £10.00 per household (£6.00 and £8.00 for seniors). This is payable on joining and renewable every October. Please see Membership page.
We celebrated our 80th anniversary last year with a special event on 3 November. See report, photos, etc.
